Personal Statement:

Dr. Zhourui Xu obtained his Ph.D. from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2020, followed by postdoctoral training at the School of Biomedical Engineering, Shenzhen University. He was promoted as Assistant Professor at the same institution in 2023 and recognized as a recipient of the Pengcheng Peacock Plan for Overseas High-Level Talents in Shenzhen.

Fluorescence imaging and phototherapy have emerged as pivotal biomedical technologies, distinguished by their high spatiotemporal resolution, minimal invasiveness, operational simplicity, and proven therapeutic efficacy. Dr. Xu's research focuses on two fundamental requirements in photo-based bioapplications: 1) maximizing light energy utilization efficiency, and 2) optimizing light energy conversion efficiency. His work aims to develop innovative nanoparticle-based healthcare systems that bridge the gap between cutting-edge photonic technologies and clinical diagnostic/therapeutic requirements. As first/co-corresponding/corresponding author, Dr. Xu has published extensively in top-tier journals including Advanced Materials, ACS Nano, Applied Physics Reviews, Chemical Engineering Journal, and Materials Horizons. His research provides critical theoretical frameworks and technological breakthroughs for advancing the applications of phototheranostic systems in the biomedical field.
