Personal Statement:

Dr. Fengsu Hou received his Ph.D. from Sichuan University in 2015, and then joined the Department of Psychiatry of University of Rochester Medical Center in Rochester, New York for postdoctoral training. In 2015, Dr. Hou joined the Sun Yat-sen Global Health Institute of School of Public Health, Sun Yat-sen University as associate research professor. In 2019, Dr. Hou joined the Shenzhen Mental Health Center as associate research professor. In 2025, Dr. Hou joined the School of Public Health, Shenzhen University Medical School, Shenzhen University as assistant professor.

Global Health and Implementation Science provide the theoretical framework for Dr. Hou to gradually develop his research interests. Dr. Hou is fully committed to the field of public mental health, especially suicide prevention and improving mental health among vulnerable populations. In his TEEM project, a series of implementation studies, he applies brief contact interventions and a gamified intervention to reduce suicide risk among discharged psychiatric patients. Dr. Hou has published papers in hight impact academic journals in mental healsh and psychiatry, such as the British Journal of Psychiatry and Epidemiology and Psychiatric Sciences.
