A.   Personal Statement

I was appointed as Associate Professor and Master Tutor by Shenzhen University in 2013. In the same year, I received the Shenzhen Overseas High-level Talent Award. I am currently serving as the Director of the XiLi Testing Center and Deputy Director of the Teaching and Research Center, Shenzhen University. My research mainly focuses on the pathogenesis of diabetes, diabetes drug development and tumor metabolism. My research team has made independent discoveries and achievements in insulin signaling transduction, apoptosis of islet beta cells, the mechanisms of anti-diabetic drugs and tumor metabolism. Combined, my team has vast professional knowledge and experimental expertise with regards to studying dynamic changes of the cytoskeleton and vesicle transportation of glucose and fatty acids. I use modern cellular and molecular technologies to assess and select anti-diabetic and anti-cancer drugs both in vitro and in vivo, and new drugs have been discovered based on my pharmacological research. My projects are supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), the Overseas High-level Talent Foundation and the Basic Research Foundation of Shenzhen. I have published my research in high impact SCI journals, such as Mol. Cell. Endocrinol, Cell Signal and Mol. Biol. Cell, and  I am currently mentoring three MSc candidates.
