My lab is interested in aging and neurodegenerative diseases, including:

  1. ubiquitin modification mediated protein downregulation. Ubiquitin-proteasome system is a protein quality control system, it targets misfolded proteins for degradation. In the cytosol, specialized E3 ligases target soluble misfolded proteins for ubiquitination and subsequent proteasomal degradation. We study tissue specific E3 ligases and their substrates in normal and disease states.
  2. As the worldwide population ages, neurodegenerative diseases are becoming an increasingly important public health problem. We study Alzheimer’s disease especially the molecular basis of circadian clock dysfunction.
