Personal Statement:

Zida Li is a Tenured Associate Professor and Doctoral Supervisor. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) in 2012, followed by short-term research training at The University of Hong Kong (HKU). He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, in 2018. Since 2018, he has been a faculty member at the School of Biomedical Engineering, Shenzhen University, and was promoted to Tenured Associate Professor in 2024.

Dr. Li’s interdisciplinary research spans microfluidics, molecular biology, and artificial intelligence, with a focus on single-molecule nucleic acid/immunoassay detection and single-cell sequencing. He has pioneered label-free digital nucleic acid amplification technologies, recognized for their groundbreaking innovation in academia. His work has been published in top-tier journals such as PNAS, Advanced Science, and Analytical Chemistry. He has received numerous grants and accolades, including the Baxter Young Investigator Award, Outstanding Oral Presentation at the Annual Analytical Chemistry Conference, grants from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Guangdong Provincial Natural Science Foundation, and Shenzhen Medical Research Special Fund. Additionally, Dr. Li holds multiple patents in microfluidics and digital nucleic acid detection and leads industry-academia collaborative R&D projects. He actively contributes to the biomedical engineering community as a reviewer for leading international journals and an organizer of academic conferences. For collaboration opportunities, visit the group homepage: https://zidalab.github.io
