Personal Statement:
Dr. Fengwei Zhang obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Hong Kong in 2022. He continued his academic journey as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Hong Kong and joined the School of Basic Medical Sciences of Shenzhen University as an Assistant Professor in 2025.
Dr. Zhang's research focuses on neuroendocrine regulation, especially the role of gastrointestinal hormones in energy metabolism, bone homeostasis, and gut-brain interaction. By using a multidisciplinary approach, including neuroscience and molecular biology, he studies how gastrointestinal peptides coordinate physiological processes, such as appetite, sodium intake and bone remodeling. Dr. Zhang Fengwei also focuses on the R&D of small molecule drugs for G protein-coupled receptors, as well as the exploration of functional innovation in traditional Chinese medicine.
