Personal Statement:
Dr. Xing Liu is currently a Professor in the Department of Pathogen Biology, Shenzhen University Medical School. He was honored with the title of Jiangsu Distinguished Professor and received the Jiangsu Distinguished Youth Fund. Dr. Liu earned his Ph.D. from Nanjing Agricultural University in 2015 and completed postdoctoral training at the University of Illinois at Chicago from 2016 to 2020. From 2020 to 2024, he served as Associate Professor and later Professor at Nanjing Agricultural University
Dr. Liu's research primarily focuses on viral infection and the mechanisms of pathogenesis. He has published 27 SCI papers as first or corresponding author in high-impact journals such as PNAS, Autophagy, PLoS Pathogens, mBio, and Journal of Virology. He also holds one authorized international invention patent and two national patents. In addition, Dr. Liu has contributed to three academic books, including serving as Deputy Editor for the Principles of Virology, a national undergraduate textbook under China’s 14th Five-Year Plan.
Research Interests:
Entry mechanisms and host tropism of large DNA viruses (Herpesviruses, Poxviruses, etc.)
Immune evasion and pathogenesis of large DNA viruses
Antiviral drugs, oncolytic viruses, and live-vector vaccines
