The Ministry of Science and Technology has announced the 2026 approval list for the International Outstanding Young Scientists Program. Guangdong Province secured 10 approved projects, among which Shenzhen University (SZU) Medical School earned its first-ever grant in this category—a milestone for the university.

 Dr. Saniya Ossikbayeva from Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (Kazakhstan) will join SZU Medical School for a 12-month research stay. With expertise in oncology and molecular genetics, she is expected to boost SZU Medical School's international research capacity and disciplinary development.

 The project was submitted through the Shenzhen–Almaty Joint Laboratory for Frontier Medical Sciences (saLFMS), a collaborative platform co-established with Kazakh partners. This approval marks a key step in SZU Medical School's engagement with the Belt and Road Science, Technology and Innovation Action Plan.

 The Program aims to foster young talent, facilitate people-to-people exchanges, and strengthen international scientific cooperation.

 This achievement reinforces SZU Medical School's global partnerships and lays a solid foundation for attracting top talent and advancing joint research via the saLFMS platform.
