The Vice President and Editor-in-Chief of Springer Nature Greater China, Xiaohong Yang, visited SZU HSC
On August 13 2020, Xiaohong Yang (Vice President of Springer Nature in Greater China and Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Nature Research), Tianhai Jiang, (Director of Government Affairs and Policy of Springer Nature in Greater China), and Kunpeng Qiao (Development Manager of Institutional Market Accounts of Springer Nature in Greater China) visited the Shenzhen University Health Science Center (HSC). They met with Weiguo Zhu (Director of the HSC), Xingzhi Xu and Xinchun Chen (Deputy Directors of the HSC), and other professors from related departments of the HSC. The two parties introduced their history and achievements, expressed their willingness to cooperate further, and discussed the latest developments of the journal Genome Instability & Disease.
Director Weiguo Zhu first thanked the visitors from Springer Nature for making their visit, and introduced the general development of the HSC, including the its history, current departments, disciplines, faculties, and scientific research themes.
Next, Xiaohong Yang thanked the HSC for the warm reception and introduced Springer Nature. She outlined the desire of Springer Nature to increase their level of cooperation with Shenzhen University.
Deputy Director Xingzhi Xu gave introduced the development of the academic journal "Genome Instability & Disease". He highlighted the four issues published thus far, and reviewed the history of the journal’s founding, the scope, the members of the editorial board, the manuscript submissions, and conferences organized.
Deputy Director Xinchun Chen introduced to the guests the scientific research that is conducted at the HSC, including the scientific research platforms, the number of national projects (and their funding) undertaken over the years, and the different fields that it covers.
Overall, the two sides had a lively discussion on the development of academic journals and other related issues.
Xiaohong Yang gave suggestions to young scientists with regards to creating excellent manuscript submissions from an editorial perspective. Director Tianhai Jiang also provided good advice on how to manage the journal. Yang and Qiao also introduced the procedures and precautions required when publishing books from the perspective of the publisher. The two parties expressed their willingness to cooperate and communicate further on these specific matters in the future.
Both parties gave each other gifts at the meeting.
Finally, the guests visited the campus and General Hospital of Shenzhen University to end the visit.
