1998年获得加拿大多伦多大学博士学位,现为深圳大学医学部特聘教授,深圳大学国际肿瘤中心PI。已在多个研究领域获得原创性研究成果,1997年,鉴定了第一个原核生物的锌转运蛋白;2004年,首次发现Wnt信号通路在慢性淋巴细胞白血病中被激活,并已鉴定多个新颖的Wnt信号通路抑制剂,其中一项有关盐霉素对肿瘤干细胞的抑制机理研究被顶级科学杂志Nature Medicine选作研究亮点加以介绍。2016年,首次报道灵菌红素通过阻断Wnt信号通路,抑制肿瘤的生长;2018年,首次揭示了佛波酯TPA激活Wnt/β-catenin信号通路,诱导肿瘤形成的新颖机理。2019年,鉴定了盐霉素抑制结直肠癌干细胞的新颖机理;2020年,发现含硫金属铱配合物通过靶向Wnt/β-catenin信号通路,表现出明显的拮抗乳腺癌和乳腺癌干细胞的活性。2021年,首次发现TMEM97激活Wnt信号通路参与乳腺癌发生发展的新颖机理。2023年,发现神经干细胞分化诱导剂ISX9是一个新颖的Wnt激活剂,该分子通过与Axin结合,激活Wnt信号通路,促进毛发生长。

迄今已发表70多篇科学论文,论文已被引用超过3500次,其中作为第一作者或通讯作者的论文引用已超过2000次,并已申请多项发明专利。担任多个知名期刊PNASBloodLeukemiaClinical Cancer ResearchMolecular Cancer Research的审稿专家。
